Where to Celebrate July 4th in Palo Alto, Redwood City and MORE!

Independence Day happenings in the Lower Peninsula and beyond to enjoy this year!

Are you looking for ways to celebrate July 4th in the Lower Peninsula or Bay Area?

We have all your Independence Day fun in Palo Alto, Redwood City, Menlo Park and more — fireworks, parades, community picnics, and more — rounded up right here for you!

Here are five ways you can find your family fun in the Lower Peninsula on July 4th and celebrate Independence Day:

Redwood City

Fourth of July Parade and Independence Day Festival

  • 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Downtown Redwood City

Details: Start the day with a pancake breakfast. Then a parade that begins at 10am. Be sure to check the map of the parade route and other scheduling and location info here. The 33rd Annual Independence Day Festival starts at 9am. Admission is free.

Concert, Food Trucks and Fireworks Show

  • 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm food trucks
  • 7:00 pm to 9:15 pm Concert - Blue: Coastside Cool 
  • Fireworks start at approximately 9:30 pm

Details: Enjoy a concert at the Port, followed by fireworks. The fireworks can be seen from areas where there is a clear view of the skies above the Port, and can also be seen from high points all over the Peninsula. Early arrival to the Port is recommended. Fireworks public viewing area along the waterfront off of Seaport Court. Alcohol is prohibited on-site at the fireworks show, and personal fireworks are illegal at all times in Redwood City. No BBQs or pets.

Menlo Park

Fourth of July Parade and Celebration

  • 11:45 am
  • Parade ends at Burgess Park

Details: Decorate your bike, tricycle, or wagon and join the parade down Santa Cruz Avenue from downtown (corner of Chestnut Street and Santa Cruz Avenue) to Burgess Park. Once at the park, enjoy live music, bounce houses, rock walls, face painting, crafts, games and food.

Palo Alto

Free 4th of July BBQ

  • 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Daily July 4th through July 7th
  • Free BBQ and Shave Ice
  • Magnussen's Toyota 690 San Antonio Road, Palo Alto 

Details: BBQ from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Kona Ice Shaved Ice Truck on site from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Annual Chili Cook Off and Summer Festival

  • 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Tickets are $5 each and include 5 tastings and ballot
  • 600 East Meadow Drive, Palo Alto
